This tradition that is performed at the Dashashwamedh Ghat is famous the world over. The entire area by the ghat is lit up with beautiful diyas. An elaborate aarthi is then performed with lamps, flowers, incense and camphor, thanking the magnificent river for its blessings and for its protection.

The lamps used for the aarthi are made out of banana leaves and inserted with a candle and flowers inside. The lamps are then set afloat in the water.
